Bengali is spoken by 171,070,202 people primarily in Bangladesh and India with a few speakers in other countries like Malawi, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and USA.

Bangladesh has 100,000,000 speakers while India has 70,561,000. In Bangladesh The majority of Bengali speakers are Muslim with a few million Hindus and only .03% (point 3%) are Christians.

In India Bengali is spoken in the following areas. West Bengal; Jharkhand, Dhanbad, Manbhum, Singhbhum, Santal Parganas; Bihar; Assam, Goalpara District; Meghalaya, Garo Hills; Mizoram; Nagaland. Some of these are restricted areas where foreigners are not allowed. Very few Christians in these areas.
